Saahir ambushed the local hip-hop scene in 1993 with thought provoking music. The rest is history. The purchase of this demo tape at his high school became the status quo for all who felt they were cool. Shortly after entering Prairie View A & M on a full academic scholarship destiny introduced him to Method Man. This event would prove to be the catalyst for his self-realization, “ I was made for hip-hop”. But one might ask, “doesn’t everybody who feels they have talent say this?” Well Saahir dropped out of college moved to Arlington and embarked upon the mastery of his craft. Moreover, he became an erudite with a intimate understanding of the socio-economic oppression he found in this new environment he choose instead of the comfort and security of college life. 2000: Enter the realized self. Saahir made his acting debut in the underground film The Wash and petitioned for lyrical immortality on the independently released Liquid Bricks: Lessons in simplistic complexity. His style is reminiscent of John Coltrane and Jimmy Hendrix wrapped in one street poet; expressing political, social, sexual, street, and metaphysical ideas in a language that the common people can understand. In a sick way he seems to have the heart of a young Palestinian tired of watching the demise of his people. Hence, he blows himself up every time he touches the mic.
